Intermittent Fasting - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

I’ve been very hesitant to weigh in on Intermittent Fasting. I’m asked about it a lot and I always want to be honest with you.

But, it’s becoming more and more popular. Athletes, workplaces, and friends are gathering together to try intermittent fasting.

Tons and tons of peer pressure. And tons and tons of people extolling its virtues. Saying it’s the way of the future and the solution for all of our modern health issues.

But…is that true?

This is why I’ve been hesitant to talk about it.

Yes. There’s some research on IF that looks promising. And…there are many, many gaps.

When the questions about Intermittent Fasting started to coming up in my nutrition hub, Your Beautiful Life, I knew the time was right to look at the research and anecdotal accounts and try to make heads or tails about this popular way of eating.

So, I dove in, read everything I could, and put together a full masterclass on Intermittent Fasting.

Truthfully, I’m still on the fence about Intermittent Fasting. It can be a great tool for some people…but be VERY detrimental for others.

There are many downsides that most of the IF experts aren’t mentioning. Downsides that may cause severe hormonal and blood sugar issues for some.

I think it’s important to know all of the info before starting anything new, and this is particularly important for Intermittent Fasting. Yes. It can be great. And yes. It can be very harmful.

If done correctly, for the right body type, Intermittent Fasting may:

  • Lower inflammation

  • Lower blood sugar

  • Lower blood pressure and improve cholesterol, blood pressure, and triglyceride levels

  • Slow the aging process

If done incorrectly or if you’re forcing your body into something it doesn’t like, Intermittent Fasting may:

  • Trigger disordered eating patterns

  • Spike cortisol and adrenaline (causing a major stress on the body)

  • Drop hormones, possibly to menopausal levels (there are many anecdotal accounts of this)

  • Create more insulin resistance

  • Raise blood sugar

  • Trigger more inflammation

This is why it’s important to know as much as you can about this technique before you start so you can know if your body is loving it or hating it as quickly as possible.

Inside this masterclass I outline:

  • The pros and cons to intermittent fasting for both men and women

  • How to know if this is the right technique for you

  • All of the types of intermittent fasting (eating window, 5:2, 24+ fasts)

  • The best technique for men and women

This masterclass will take you less than an hour to read and digest and please read it before trying this technique.

Be kind to your body and learn the good, the bad, and the ugly of Intermittent Fasting.
